Harold Schaitberger has again decided to promote HIS choice for the IAFF's Support in endorsing Barack Obama and Joe Biden.
This website will offer a platform for both IAFF firefighters and non-IAFF firefighters that disagree with this endorsement.
We will offer some things to think about for those who are undecided.
Why John McCain and Sarah Palin ?
I can't say it better than Joe Biden himself........
COUNTRY FIRST
The latest angle by the Obama campaign is to run against President Bush
They want you to believe that "John McCain is just another George Bush"
I think Pres. Bush would be the first to tell you that John McCain is not George Bush
There is no doubt about the qualifications of John McCain to be President of the U.S.
Even his most strident Democrat opponents have conceded this point.
John McCain has shown over and over again his commitment to this country.
As it has been said, "There is only one candidate in this election that has FOUGHT for you, and that man is John McCain." This is not just a slogan.....it is the TRUTH.
John McCain did not just become proud of his country after winning his party's nomination...
John McCain has ALWAYS been PROUD OF HIS COUNTRY.
John McCain is a man of honor, sense of duty, integrity and courage, with a streak of independence.....much like many firefighters in this country. He believes in many of the things that we as firefighters believe in and the way most of us conduct our daily lives.
He believes that the federal government should not be telling us how to live our lives, and that many of the things that the federal government sticks it's nose in are best left to local and state governments and their citizens to decide, such as federally mandated collective bargaining and excessive federal funding for the fire service that is most certainly a local responsibility. John McCain has voted for the Fire Act and SAFER, but the IAFF's complaint is that he doesn't demand that the feds spend even more money. Does the whining ever end ??
Obama, of course has "consistently" voted to spend more and more of YOUR MONEY.
The IAFF Obama website says that because John McCain would not sign an IAFF "letter ", that he wants to mandate that firefighters pay into Social Security. They also try to leave the impression that John McCain will take away your pension and replace it with Social Security. They offer no proof of their conclusion. What exactly did the letter say ??
They say McCain supports drilling and suspending gasoline taxes......This is a BAD thing ?????
Obama, they say, will lower oil and gasoline prices and impose a windfall tax on oil companies.
How about a windfall tax on the taxes the government is collecting from the oil and refined products that they do NOTHING to produce ?
Being a good liberal Obama apparently doesn't understand that as in any tax, it is ultimately paid by the consumer, and that "windfall" taxes suppress exploration and development of resources, creating bigger shortages and higher prices.
He will also "raise mileage standards for automobiles". Does that mean that Barack Obama has developed some technology that we don't know about ?? John McCain wants to explore all of the alternatives as well, but is smart enough to realize that at the present time, the technology is just not there. The IAFF says that any results from drilling will take "years" to have any effect, but apparently the "decades" it will take to get to alternative fuels as a major source of energy is fine. Maybe Schaitberger doesn't realize that the car he rides around in, and the jets he flies in (on IAFF member dues money) , run on OIL ! Like it or not, until the technology catches up we must explore and develop ALL of the energy resources we have at our disposal.
The IAFF says Obama will make money available to those who can't pay their mortgages. That money will have to come from the taxpayers who ARE paying their mortgages....in other words, YOU ! So the message is.....be irresponsible and you will be rewarded. Be responsible, and you will be taxed to pay to reward the irresponsible. Be prepared for MORE of this. To quote Michelle Obama "Someone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so that someone else can have more."
I don't see much difference in her statement that that of Karl Marx :
FROM each according to his ability, TO each according to his needs
John McCain has fought AGAINST the waste of taxpayer dollars and pork barrel spending in the form of "earmarks".
In all of his years in the U.S.Senate, John McCain has never asked for "earmarks" for his home state of Arizona.
Senator McCain showed a bit of that maverick streak with his choice of Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska to be his running mate.
Who is Sarah Palin ? Click HERESarah Palin is truly a breath of fresh air in the political arena. While she has "only" been governor of her state for less than 2 years, her accomplishments as the holder of elected executive office have been remarkable. She has an unheard of 80 plus percentage approval rating in Alaska. She has rooted out corruption in both parties, returned windfall oil revenues to the citizens of her state and negotiated a 40 billion dollar natural gas pipeline to be built to help the U.S. with the supply of this much needed source of energy. She oversees a state budget of 11 billion dollars and 24,000 employees.
After nearly a week of pummeling by the media over an issue that would be considered a PLUS if she was a democrat, Governor Palin gave a very poised acceptance address at the Republican National Convention.
Does Sarah Palin have what it takes to be "a heartbeat away" from the presidency ?
If she is held to the same standard as Barack Obama.....ABSOLUTELY.
Sarah Palin, like John McCain, also has honor, sense of duty, integrity and courage, with a streak of independence.
There can be no doubt that this team will shake up Washington, D.C. with the kind of CHANGE that is truly needed.
Remember......CHANGE is NOT a destination......HOPE is NOT a strategy.
